I didn’t ask Francois after our game (because it ended in 17 moves with him resigning), but I asked him after the tournament. He definitely remembers the Bonin game, but he said he didn’t find it remarkable to have quadrupled pawns during the game. He just kept capturing whatever was hanging. =)

And, sadly, no connection with the comedian with the same name. He said there are a few pages in the phone book for Leveille as a last name, so it’s reasonably common here.

My second question is, is there any relationship between him and Francois Leveille the stand-up comedian? Because when I did a Google search on his name, almost all the hits led to this comedian. If he’s the same guy, I’d be interested in finding out how a chess player becomes a comedian … or vice versa.
