Article Archive

I probably should’ve done this sometime back, but after a request, I’ve finally added a page to the blog titled “Chess Articles.” You can find it above the main picture, next to the “About” page.

For about a year under the Fellowship, I wrote weekly articles for chess.com (I skipped a few weeks when I was too busy with tournaments; I don’t write for them anymore). I mentioned a few of these articles specifically in my blog posts, but for the most part, they were published on chess.com without any additional fanfare here. Hopefully this will make it easier to find the articles.

“Critical Moments”

I’ve been writing weekly articles for chess.com since February 2009 (with some breaks for long tournament trips) – my 42nd article (for April 13th) for them is at: http://www.chess.com/article/view/critical-moments

This will be my last article, as I think I will be busy enough with the tournament in Metz, the US Championship, and then a busy summer schedule. The authorship of the Tuesday articles will pass to WGM Natalia Pogonina.

“The Not-So-Hanging Pawns”

Here’s my April 6th article for chess.com: http://www.chess.com/article/view/the-not-so-hanging-pawns

“Fire on Board”

Here’s my latest article for chess.com, http://www.chess.com/article/view/fire-on-board. It deals with my game against IM Yohan Benitah from the GibTelecom Masters.

“Trial and Error”

I’ve resumed my writing for chess.com after taking a 2-month break for my last chess trip. You can see my latest article at: http://www.chess.com/article/view/trial-and-error

It focuses on my game against GM Damian Lemos from Sevilla in January, but references a couple games I played last summer in Montreal against GMs Bluvshtein and Akobian. Enjoy!

Recent Chess.com articles

I’ll post about the last 4 rounds in Philly in a couple days. In the meantime, here are links to my last 3 chess.com articles. All 3 articles are centered around games from the Montreal tournament:

The 3rd Rank Barrier

Materialism, Opposite Colored Bishops, and Kasparov’s Theorem

Writing for Chess.com

About a month ago, I agreed to start writing weekly articles for Chess.com. For those who haven’t seen the site, it’s a mostly free site that has all sorts of chess content and capabilities – correspondence chess, online games, tactics puzzles, training, etc.

My articles appear every Tuesday morning, and here are the first few by (or about) me:

— 2/24: Introduction (by David Pruess)

— 2/24, Article #1: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

— 3/3, Article #2: The Boa Constrictor

There should  be another article published tomorrow.
